How exactly does eviolite work?

If I use a unit that can change forms through evolution (like Ogerpon in AllTheMons) or even mega evolutions, will it get the def and spdef buff?

Edit: After doing some testing by testing with and without eviolite and then removing Deoxys defense ability to evolve in the files while keeping eviolite equipped. Eviolite seems to work with form changes (because of how it is programmed in datapacks) but not mega evolutions.
