Things you don’t want to see next season.
I don’t want to see another 3 second call celebration ever again. What the hell was that, celebrating camping in the paint in a 3pt shooting league and getting called for it? It’s the most expressive I’ve ever seen Allen and after his performance against the Knicks I don’t want to see the dude flex and scream and clap for a technical foul again.
This won’t be popular but the junkyard dog chain has got to go. First the novelty wore off, you got the Kings doing it too so it’s not even a unique thing anymore. Second, it feels fraudulent after the Knicks series. A junkyard dog represents toughness, grit, physicality while not being very polished or pretty to look at. I didn’t see any of that vs the Knicks, and I think it even gives some of the guys a false impression that this is a tough gritty team. Just play the damn game, pass out a game ball after or praise standout performances in the film room, but stop taking pictures looking hard during the regular season when you get rolled in the face of actual gritty physicality in the playoffs.
JB, but since he’s staying for whatever reason while a plethora of coaches becomes available I’ll settle for not seeing weird ass rotation decisions like DNPing guys for 3 games then riding them for 25 min the next. Cedi comes to mind but also, Neto got a ton of DNPs during the regular season and then JB gives Rubio minutes in the playoffs and he gets smoked. JB was then clearly afraid of inserting Neto in the middle of a playoff series, but maybe if he gave him more minutes during the reg season he’d be more ready to step up and make an impact. Literally couldn’t have played worse than Rubio. Neto wouldn’t have been the difference in this series, but the fact that he wasn’t even an option was nobody’s fault but JB’s.
