How was it to drive your classic car flat-out (top speed)?

I recently took my 1970 VW Beetle Standard 1200 to the motorway. I hit 73 mph / 117 km/h pedal-to-the-medal. It sounded like it was about to lift off. The steering wheel play made me hold it tight. I put the song “Push It to Limit”.
