The ties between major chess streamers, content creators and some Super GMs with Chess.com are threatening the game.
I came late to the last Magnus' scandal, but I opened Youtube and all I could see is the same narrative by the same streamers (Hikaru, Levy, etc). In the same way, Spanish language streamers, that used to work at Chess24 like Pepe Cuenca, Divis, Luisón, etc are also now employed by Chess.com
When there is a situation in which they can throw shit at FIDE they will receive orders from the top to start spreading the official chess.com message.
Lichess is awesome, but of course, they don't sponsor any player or streamer and thus, we have a "chess-opinion monopoly", where chess.com spreads its message at convenience, reaching a broader audience than independent players. This is particularly true for English, Spanish, French or German speaking players, where this website has a network of paid chess influencers.
I don't know what's the solution but it stinks, and it's risking for us, the players, that a private, or several private corporations will take control of the game.
