Fehling Test alcohol

So I was wondering why the Fehling Test does not show positive results when mixed with any Alcohols. I thought so, because in class we dealt with the aldehyde and keton synthesis from alcohols, hydroxide and patassium permanganate. We can result from this reaction that alcohol can for a fact be oxidated. And therefore should be oxidated in the Fehling Test. So how come that the test shows negative results? (Hope that you get my point, despite the language barrier)
