CMV: Trumps tariff plan offers no benefit to the USA.

Please offer any good-faith arguments in favor of the USA’s current tariff plan. I’m already aware of the criticisms against it and have aligned myself against it, but I’m aware that my sources of information are primarily left-leaning and are therefore likely biased. I would appreciate someone who is very familiar with the actual plan in place, and ideally has a background in economics or an understanding of foreign policy, to offer arguments describing the benefits of this plan, or counters to the criticisms against it.
