am i delusional for yale
Okay hear me out: I'm a sophomore and I know people will be like you're too early to be worrying for college apps but I want to do as much as I can to ready myself for my dream schools Yale and/or Stanford. I wanna study international relations so please please give me strong criticism - any valuable advice will be much appreciated 😭
- Race/ethnicity/state: Asian/South Korean/East coast
- Gender: Female
- School: Attending a decently big public high school; surprisingly had 5+ people attend Ivies and 10+ people go to T50s last year
- Income: low income; ~$30k for a family of 5
- GPA: 3.96/4.0 (i don't like some subjects...)
- SAT/ACT/PSAT: PSAT coming out soon but i don't have SAT or ACT yet
- Coursework: All honors except spanish last year; all honors + APUSH + AP Sem this year except spanish
- Major: International Relations

1. Federal/ Congressional Consultant (9-10): Advocated to Congressional members (Senate HELP, GOP, OPE) in meetings for their endorsement of bill (HSVEA) designating high schools as voter registration agencies with federal support; outreach to media outlets/reporters for media recognition
2. Polisci Research Group Founder/Research Manager at an org(9-10): Leading 14 researchers (high school~college students) conducting formal research on environmental sustainability in developing countries
3. Executive Director at an org (10): Heading all intl and ntl programs/affairs as chief role at org's Executive Council; securing grants, implementing new initiatives and opportunities for members across several platforms
4. Research Scholar at a program (10): Admitted to competitive research program with full financial aid (more competitive because limited spots for aids); currently researching topic under global affairs (likely global conflict alleviation) mentored under a Ph.D graduate
5. Founder/Blogger (9-10): Founded blog/newsletter on recording recent global events and diplomacy to an audience of 300+; created my own website, following, and platform (currently revamping)
6. Tutoring Program Coordinator at an org (9-10): Overseeing the educational supervision and direction of NJ Chapter; Organized tutoring sessions for underprivileged youth in my area; acted as deputy director for when current director was absent
7. Executive Director/Court Watch Intern at an org (9-10): Selected as one of 10 people from the internship program to become “backbone” of executive team; responsible for outreach (connecting with national court watching programs/offices) and logistics behind the internship
8. Korean Language Tutor (freelance) (9-10): Provided personalized tutoring sessions and enhancing bilingual skills (English and Korean) to develop student's proficiency of lesson plans
9. Marching Band Drumline Member (9-10): Behaved as a leader guiding new drumline members on fundamentals of music and drill; won 1st in States, 5th in Nationals
10. Class Representative (voted 9 and 10 but this is only for 9): Contributed to selling ~$4,000 worth of Freshman merch, the most earned in many years; directed freshman class's engagement to win high school's first-ever spirit wars
