Shower thought theory about Nightmare Before Christmas.

to start off, I do not actually believe this but I think it is kind of interesting/funny so I’m posting it.

The holiday worlds are the circles of hell.

(At the time I thought the circles were just the seven deadly sins. I now know otherwise)

The seven sins are Pride, Wrath, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy and Sloth. And in the opening of Nightmare Before Christmas, we see there are exactly seven holiday worlds (or at least seven trees): Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, Saint Patrick's day, Valentines day and Hannuka. Here's what I think each holiday represents:

Christmas: Greed. Needs no explanation.

Thanksgiving: Gluttony. Also needs no explanation.

Valentines day: Lust. Also needs no explanation.

Halloween: Wrath. The holiday was originally said to be a day where ghosts and monsters walked the earth, and people would dress as monsters to try and scare them off.

Saint Patrick's Day: Pride. The holiday originally celebrated christianity being brought to Ireland.

I don't really know what the last two could be, but you get the point.

Additionally, each sin has a prince who is sort of the embodiment of said sin. And in each holiday world, (at least from what we see in the movie) there is one creature who is considered very powerful in their respective world. (Santa, Oogie Boogie and the easter bunny are the ones we see.)

Now for the next part of the theory: everyone in the holiday worlds (with the exception of the “Princes of Hell”) are now dead characters from other media.

Jack: I have seen a few people say he used to be the Grinch, but I personally think he was a different Dr. Suess character: the movie version of the Oncler from the Lorax. Both are really tall and lanky, and both of their stories involve them trying to steal what makes a previously unexplored (to them) area beautiful.

Lock Shock and Barrel: the main three hyenas from The Lion King. A trio of characters who work for the main antagonist out of fear and greed but wind up betraying them in the end. Both trios have two boys and a girl, one of the boys is treated as less intelligent and both trios tend to laugh a lot during conversation.

Dr. Finkelstien: Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. A mad scientist who has the ability to easily create or erase life and tends to treat everyone around him like shit but is also terrified of anyone leaving him.

Sally: Garnet from Steven Universe. Her main motivation is love, she can see the future and she can be disassembled and reassembled, similar to how Garnet can unfuse into Ruby and Sapphire and re-fuse.

The Mayor: Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. This one may be a bit more of a stretch, but both of them kind of only care about their kingdom/town, and can be a bit shortsighted on other matters.

So that's about it. thoughts?
