Recommendations for serious animated series?

If possible, serious animated series with continuity (if possible, longer, more than 3 seasons, better). It doesn't matter if there is no ending yet, or if there are sequels or spin-offs, I'm just looking for a serious animated series.

Does anyone know of any?
