The best lens?

I am a beginner photographer, so I want to start getting my foot in the door to start applying for media passes, my plan is to take my camera to events I’m attending anyway, and build up a portfolio and practice through that, then start applying for media passes.

My camera is r100 and I only have the Kit lens currently, I’ve been practicing with it and doing decent with it, I’ve doing a bit of street photography as that’s in the possibility of a kit lens, and it’s been really fun, I didn’t realise how much fun photography is. I’m now out and about at like 6:30am with my camera.

The type of events I want to attend at first would be the likes of comic-cons to build up my confidence as that’s sort of where I feel the most comfortable approaching people, as well as take photos of the scenery, buildings, skylines etc, as there’s some really nice buildings down the waterfront and loads of ships/boats.

What type of lens would be best, or lenses?

I haven’t got a budget as I just want an estimate to work towards, and put money aside for. But nothing too crazy like £14,000 lenses 😂.

I will even be up for buying an adapter for the camera for other lenses. I also will be looking in the secondhand market, but I will buy brand new if I have to.

Edit: idk if this is important but I really like manual focus, with the ring on the lens, I would prefer an extra little ring on the lens if possible, if not I’ll get use to auto-focus

Thank you :))
