Work experience question

Hi, I have a question about the name of the company.

The company i worked for has a different name on all of my paystubs, and tax form. So for example, i worked for company “ABC” but in all of my paystubs and tax form, the company name was “DEF” instead.

They are still related to each other but just want to ask if this is common? Do i need to attach a letter of explanation for this difference in names when submitting? Thank you in advance!
