101 vs 103 (Photos & kinda-review)
I got the 103 because I like the idea of the faster shutter, but I'm realizing a lot of my photos are blurry because I'm moving the camera right after I hear the shutter sound. That leads me to believe that the shutter sound is kind of a lie, and the photo isn't really taken as fast as it seems, you still have to hold it for a little bit after you hear the shutter.
On the topic of the shutter sound, the 103's shutter sound is really weird. The 101 mimics a camera shutter sound, while the 103 is just a weird tinny click. I would just turn it off, but I like the audio confirmation that a photo was taken, so I just have it turned down as low as possible.
The other feature that made me get the 103 is the ability to set the date on the camera. It doesn't seem like a huge deal to some, but when you import photos from the 101 to your phone they go back in your photo library to 2021 or whenever your camera was manufactured, so they're annoying to find. With the 103 if I import photos that I took today, they're in the right spot in my camera roll.
Overall I think I like the photos from the 101 better, they have more of the vintage feel that most of us bought these cameras for, I just need to do some more testing with the 103 shutter to see how long you need to hold the camera steady to get a decent photo.
Photos below for reference! v103 photos are on the left, v101 on the right. Both with the default vintage filter.
