What to respond when asked why lesbians like to dress like men
So I was having a (friendly) conversation with my mother just now, and she asked me "if lesbians hate men, why do they dress like them?"
I want some input on this question, because I was thinking about it myself, and to be honest I'm not quite sure why I dress in a masculine way.
Of course, we know that not all lesbians like to dress masculinely, so there's that. But for the ones that do (including me,) I'm not sure why. Is it because I associate masculine traits with being attractive to women? If all women were attracted to feminine features and dress (long hair, dresses, etc) would I then dress more femininely or would I still be drawn to masculinity?
I wanted to say, "I dress masculine because I just like it, it's unexplainable," but I'd like to see if there is an explanation that can be drawn out. Even as a kid, I liked feeling strong and fast, I used to dress up as spiderman/batman, etc.
Edit: I complain a lot to her about men so I may have inadvertently reinforced the idea in her mind that lesbians hate men oops
