Max Speed in 24’ Black Diamond in 4-Hi
This morning driving to work the roads were slick and snow covered. Before I pulled out of my driveway I put the Bronco in 4-Hi (haven’t left in a few days so there was probably about 10 inches accumulative in the driveway). The roads didn’t have like 2 ft of snow or anything, but definitely not dry. Saw some people sliding.
Anyways, about 10 miles of my commute is on a 60 MPH highway. I was not sliding at all (maybe a sign I didn’t need to be in 4-Hi), but like I said the roads had snow on them.
My speed fluctuated anywhere from 50 to 71 MPH, with most of my driving being 55 to 65 MPH.
Do you think I caused any damage to the transfer case or transmission? I wasn’t sliding at 55 so I felt like I could keep on the gas. I think the max I did was 71 for a split second, but the speeds keep fluctuating due to the cars in front on me.
I know I probably sound stupid, especially since these new cars can handle a lot more speed with 4x4 as opposed to the old ones. Just wanna make sure I didn’t do anything wrong.
