Jolting awake looking for baby in bed-will this end at some point?
Our daughter is almost 3 weeks old and I am EBF. She still eats a couple to a few times at night (midnight, 3 and 6 let’s say) and in between she sleeps great which means I get to sleep as well.
However, when I fall asleep at some point I always jolt awake and firmly believe I’ve fallen asleep while nursing. I frantically search the covers or pillow and it feels so real I can feel her head or feet every time. And it takes me a couple minutes to finally realize each time that she is safely in her bassinet.
My husband has only witnessed this a few times, but has talked me down quicker than my frantic searching. I’m assuming this is just me not used to our routine yet and obviously adjusting to sleep changes. Did anyone else experience this? It’s really scary in the moment-when did you stop doing this?
Edit: Thank y’all for the replies-I’m just glad to know I’m not going crazy and this is a normal/common experience!
