Do you offer BF every time baby cries?

Hi, FTM to a 3 month old and wasn’t expecting to BF at all let alone EBF but so far I think it’s going pretty well. I currently offer him food every time he cries and probably 85-90% of the time he will feed at least a tiny bit although sometimes it definitely feels like comfort sucking over actual hunger... When my husband is holding him and LO cries he checks to see if LO will suck his finger and if it’s not a strong suckle will say he’s not hungry and continue trying to comfort him. When he hands LO over to me and I try to feed, baby acts desperate for food like he’s been starving in a desert lol. I don’t think he cries go through my husband quite the same way they do me as it feels physically painful to not step in.

My instincts tell me to offer him food every time he cries but I don’t know if that is actually required at this age? Or how about when he’s older like 6 months or 9 months?

We contact nap and I spend most of my time with him so the old me would have thought it’s all a bit much. Not sure if it’s normal or I have a touch of PPA as I find it super stressful leaving him even in another room and want to spend all my time with him awake or asleep - I’ve never felt this kind of pull before!

Just wondered what other mums do or if there is any advice?
