A small thread on how to help your depression. From a guy who is 1 year clean of antis!
Now obviously not everything on here works for everyone as there is no just cure to it.
1 Gaslight your self to be happy.
I am not even kidding. Like at all. Don't focus on why shit sucks. Force your self to think about things that don't suck. Find joy in the smallest things, things like a colony of ant working (isn't it amazing they are all able to work together), how the cool weather feels on your arms (makes you appreciate heat and ac!), anything that feels insignificant can make you happy.
Don't focus on the negative but force yourself to see things positive...this is the best advice I can give
2 make time for things! I know everything is always on a dead line and you can't stop for a moment...but you are on reddit so clearly you have a moment of free time... just....breath...breath again and again fill the air in you...and think what do you want to do....and try your best to do it. (Don't set major goals like make parents happy or get a bf...small things like a favorite YouTube video, a drawing, texting a friend, a hobby) but on the other side of the coin...don't only focus on what you want to do and rot in bed all day or infront of a screen. Do something productive without being asked. Sweep. Dishes. Laundry. A mile walk (if it's safe) anything to appreciate your work and achievement
3 and speaking of achievements....fuck em. Don't set em. If you are only happy by reaching these highs like getting a bf. Getting a job. Or getting into college you will be just as miserable the moment you get them. Take pride in what you have and focus on the now....not the later.
4 jot down feelings. The negative ones...and then go back and talk about how maybe you could have handled these negative feelings better...
I promise if you try any of these for 3 months you will truly start to feel better....I know I sound like everyone's parents but I promise it's not my intention to lecture, I just know you all can be better than you are.. <3
