Alagoinha Reviews - ALW Phantom of the Opera

These last months I've been diving really hard into the Phantom of the Opera rabbit hole (I think I made that quite obvious with the iceberg chart I made) and have decided to write silly little reviews for the Phantom medias I'm watching/reading

Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical

This was my first contact with POTO actually! My lovely girlfriend is a huge phan, so I wanted to learn about the things she liked so much. It was my idea to watch the musical (which she thought I wouldn't like, as I'm a lesbian and don't tend to care for straight media)

And oh boy

First and foremost, I LOVED the songs. The Phantom of the Opera has been on my On Repeat playlist since then. It just scratches this part of my brain that makes me go wild when writing and drawing. Thank you for your artist's blessing Erik.

I'm so sorry Raoul fans, but it was hate at first sight, I really disliked him. I don't care for either possible romances, I just found him annoying.

The level of drama of it all was what got my heart. Everything is just so damn extra. Tell this woman, who seems to be kinda and compassionate, that you don't feel comfortable taking of your mask, but that you would love to tutor her so she can become a great singer?
No, tell her you're a supernatural entity, become obsessed, kidnap her, and then threaten to explode the entire opera house if she doesn't marry you, only to colapse after receving a kiss.

The house under the opera house, getting paid to not cause trouble, terrorizing everyone, killing people with a fucking lasso, Erik is just so dramatic and extra, I loved it!

No thoughts about Christine besides: Why the hell did you yank his mask off, neither of you know how to communicate jesus christ

Extra points for the 25th anniversary DVD, as a musical fan I always appreciate having a professional recording instead of a low quality bootleg with a title like "Making Phantom Slime"

Final Notes: 9/10, wonderful entry point to this world, loved Ramin's voice
