What is that 'sublime experience' that many writers talk about in your experience?

I'm talking about writers such as Jack London, Immanuel Kant & Edmund Burke, that sublimity that is ineffable (lots of people say that), I'd say that realizing diversity and sheer differences and connexions between things inspires incredible surprise and wonder, therefore some kind of trascendental experience, sublimity involved?, this looks very metaphysical to me, not quite logical and reasonable, but more poetical and romantic, but there's an idea that I'm trying to get. What's your take on this?
