Worst gaming experience?
So the controversial topic I posted yesterday got me thinking about this as a discussion point.
What is the worst board gaming experience you have had?
Further to this, I am interested to hear if, later, you managed to overcome the experience or if
As an example:
A few Christmases back, I got U Boat. I had been anticipating this game for a while as I am a massive fan of Das Boot and I thought an immersive WW2 submarine experience would be a fascinating game to play, especially with the tension of finding targets and avoiding depth charges. I was keen to learn about being a captain and how to make challenging decisions under pressure.
So, later that day, myself, my sister, my brother and my brother in law saw around the table to play it. Things didn’t start off well as the needle for the compass was missing from the game. Then, an hour into playing it, my brother just announces “This is so boring.”
It was such a soul destroying moment.
I had felt an unsteady vibe around the table before then, however when he said this, it just completely killed the game for me, so much so that I haven’t played it since.
Lately I have wanted to try it again, yet the memory of that moment, plus some damaged components, have made me hesitant.
