Bisexual vs Queer

I’ve historically referred to myself as bisexual. A cousin recently came out and referred to herself as queer and it led to me evaluating both what that meant and whether that applied to me. I think that it does, but it mentally isn’t sitting well and/or doesn’t feel entirely comfortable. Though that may just be some internalized phobia about the term from the era where queer was a slur.

So here’s the question: for those of you who identify as queer and bisexual or queer rather than bisexual, what led you to that conclusion? For those who are solely one or the other, why do you identify as solely the one?
