What would you do?
I had a customer come in today to the brewery I work at. I have heard a lot about this guy but never served him, stuff like "oh yeah he's an alcoholic and lives a sad life, he has maybe two years left to live." and "that guy is the biggest dick I've ever met, nothing makes him happy and he makes everyone miserable." but he is friends with the owners of the Brewery. I have not bartended long and I work by myself, I have had to deal with some people in the past but never to this extreme. The bar I work at is pretty laid back its a Brewery afterall.
Guy comes in and I can tell he is a bit buzzed, but I think "I'll serve him one drink light and cut him off, he has a DD with him so." He asks for a whiskey coke, usually I make these in smaller glasses we have but he asks for a bigger one after I grab the size I normally pour into for customers. No problem, it's a relaxing friday night... im not gonna be a stickler. I ask him if he wants ice "nope, no ice." sounds good. I press the RC but on the soda gun but it does not seem like cola coming out. So I toss the drink after trying some of the cola myself realizing the gun was acting weird. The guy starts giving me so much shit but I make his drink for him, whatever. Then after I serve it to him he says "There is no ice can I get some ice with this." I give him a different glass with ice in it and he says "No in the glass.", I put it in the glass and about half the drink spills. Maybe I was in the wrong and should have poured another one but, thought "I'll just give him a beer token."
After getting his drink the guy starts playing slots and wins, fuck me. It is over a $100 win so he has to come and collect it tomorrow since it is a bar rule that we don't give out wins over $100 on day of (I am assuming for tax reasons). But I do have to give him a receipt that he won, so of course he is not happy saying things like "oh I'll call your boss, this is nuts, you are shit at your job. etc. etc. etc." I get it, I'm not the best bartender, I've only bartended for 2 months (im probably a fucking baby in experience to some people here) but I try, I do my best and I am nice to all of my customers that come in. Overall its just a nightmare.
My family decided to visit me at the brewery during my shift to have a drink after a Christmas parade they went to. I love it when my family comes in and they know most of the regulars there. This man decides to start hitting on my sister making gestures at her. Okay I stay calm but tell the guy and his DD that they need to relax and if he keeps doing it I am going to have to kick them out. The atmosphere is so fucking thick you could cut it with a knife, but I am the bartender I try lightening the mood while talking to my family and just making conversation. The drunk bastard goes to play slots again, while he is doing that my father says to the DD "If you guys don't leave soon and this guy hits on my daughter again I'll beat the fuck outta him." He comes back and hits on my sister again, I immediately tell everyone "Lets calm down." and tell the guy to pay for their drinks and get the fuck out.
I have 0 empathy for a person like him, all I could think for the rest of my shift was kys and leave some more air for the rest of us? Is it bad that I think that way?
The guy comes back to pick up his money he won from slots tomorrow... what the fuck do I do? My boss has to pay him out but I will not serve him. What would you do in my situation? what would you do tomorrow?
(also management is extremely shitty and I would sooner quit than server this guy again)
TLDR: Alcoholic man who is friend with the owner gets mad at me about a drink, hits on my sister in front of my dad, calm the atmosphere down and kick them out.
