Auckland Transport NZ BUS

Morning all,

Just thought I would share my experience this morning with AT hacked system,

My HOP card ran out of credit on Monday evening and I haven't' been able to top up until this morning as I couldn't online and my nearest top up location could only process it this morning and was a bus trip away and I had to catch the bus to get to the top up location. I haven't had any issues this week with other drivers until my bus turned up this morning and I tagged on as the AT website advises too

I proceeded to my seat and waited for the bus to move, however it didn't, the driver turned around and looked at me and asked me to rescan my card,  I did this and it showed insufficient funds, I scanned it again and advised him that I would be topping up at the convenience store on Onehunga mall.  He was not impressed with myself for not being able to top up.  I explained to him that I was unable to top up because of the system hack.

He said that this is not his problem and is my problem, I explained that it was not my fault that the system got hacked and again that I was on my way to Onehunga to top up.

He clearly didn't believe me and raised his voice with an angry tone saying words to the effect that how is he going to get paid?.  He was getting angrier and angrier trying to intimidate and embarrass me (which didn't work) by saying that everyone else on the bus had tagged on and not had any issues.  I explained to him that they probably topped up before the system hack and I hadn't.  The website clearly states that passengers will be allowed to travel as the grace period has been extended to Saturday evening to fix a negative balance issue and it is only Friday morning.

Anyway, I sat down, proceeded to my destination and topped up, Anyone else had any similar experiences?
