DEI?
After seeing a 30 year old crash and burn because of how he was scrutinized, only to see his responses upvoted, I wanted to give an explanation on why we have DEI policies?
DEI policies were created in an attempt to promote high-quality opportunities to minorities. They were designed to address systemic or institutional racism. They were never intended to be exclusionary, neither were they created to merely select someone solely for their race.
They were popularized under Trump’s first administration. They were considered an asset then, given the fact, predominantly white companies began to diversify their workforce with different opinions and perspectives. In addition to the fact, a lot of those employed under DEI policies performed exceptionally.
Now, DEI is emphasized as a racist tool. Yet, DEI does not even benefit POC, especially black men and women. When you say people die because of DEI policies and the camera spans to a black-woman, truth be told, she’s merely ignorant, not a “ DEI hire “. A “ DEI hire “, would be a white woman often-time.
Lastly, to really clarify, the process of diversifying the workforce began with outreach. Under DEI policies, a coordinator would go to communities filled with minorities in hopes of recruiting them. However, they had to meet the minimum qualifications. They were never under qualified whatsoever. Therefore the idea that “ DEI hires “ are under qualified is hilarious.
DEI policies are needed, but they should be tweaked and revised. A lot of conservatives don’t understand why they were made and how they were executed. The media has spun a narrative of lies unfortunately. DEI policies should be utilized to address systemic racism, not being another benefactor for white gays. White women in particular.
