My dentist wouldn’t take my wisdom tooth out?

I had my jaw broken about a year ago and..recently went to the dentist and got some new X-rays my bottom molar on the side of my face that was broken is very badly rotten..he said he wouldn’t remove it and I have to see a maxillofacial surgeon..to the dentists on here he said he was not comfortable doing it so Is this common to be sent to a surgeon ?? I assume the screws make it harder ??? Attached are some x-rays
