Can my Dentist deny my request to continue refinements?
Context: 5 months of my initial plan, and have been on refinements since October 2023.
Being my first big financial investment as an adult. i don’t want to be left with any regret after completing invisalign treatment. So i’m hoping to take to full advantage of the few years of free refinement that my comprehensive plan comes with.
There are some further adjustments i’d like to make(noticeable asymmetry in my left premolars and molars). However, my dentist(who has shown much annoyance at how many refinements we’ve done) has said today that “we’re done”. Coldly. She claims that the teeth adjustment i’m requesting would affect my bite. I’m obviously not the professional, but i do reckon there are ways around it. Or at the very least, it’s worth attempting with a few trays and tweaking if necessary. Hell, even my bite could do with more correction
She’s been pretty much unpleasant to work with since I signed the invisalign contract. So with the obvious desire she has to wrap up treatment, i can’t help but feel like she’s just refusing to help further. As this is the same person who had once told me that the strength of my bite should indeed be at my pre-molar, in an attempt to avoid refinements.
Am i not entitled to continuing treatment until I’m happy with the results? Does she really have that much to lose by continuing refinements with me?
I know this isn’t a terrible result and i’m grateful for a lot of the progress made. But i don’t look at my teeth and see the “perfect smile” that it could be
