Dealer Sold Vehicle with Hidden Issues and Told Me to Commit Warranty Fraud. Need Advice.

I recently purchased a used vehicle from a dealership that was advertised as being in excellent condition with a clean inspection report. I also purchased an extended warranty on their recommendation.

Two weeks after purchase, the vehicle broke down with a major mechanical issue. A mechanic confirmed the issue was pre-existing and would cost $15,000 to repair. The warranty does not cover pre-existing conditions, leaving me stuck with the bill.

When I contacted the dealership, they were dismissive. The owner even suggested waiting three months and filing a warranty claim pretending the issue was new, essentially asking me to commit fraud.

I’ve already contacted the BC Vehicle Sales Authority (VSA) for help, but they’ve been beyond useless in providing any meaningful resolution or support.

What options do I have to hold the dealership accountable? Are there legal or consumer protection steps I can take to recover my money or get them to cover the repairs?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
