Finance sector average vacation days
Hi everyone, thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond!
I’m a 26-year-old male working as a corporate strategy manager in the finance sector in Germany. I’m considering moving to Singapore for a couple of years to gain international work experience and explore Southeast Asia. However, I’ve noticed that the mandatory number of vacation days in Singapore is only 7, which really surprised me.
In Germany, while the legal minimum is 20 days, 30 is quite common in practice. I don’t expect to get the 31 paid vacation days I currently have in Germany, but 7 would definitely be a dealbreaker for me. So, my question is: Is it common for companies in Singapore to offer more than the mandatory minimum of 7 days, particularly for positions like mine?
Additionally, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how young professionals are perceived in Singapore, especially those who have progressed relatively quickly in their careers, or want to progess quickly. To give you some context, my current salary in Germany is just under 100,000 SGD (converted from €), though I pay higher taxes here. Am I able to get a similar salary in Singapore with my age?
Thanks again for your input!
