Please give a future Battalion Commander advice

I take Battalion command soon. I’ve lived under and worked for plenty of terrible leaders… I understand how much a bad commander can impact people’s lives, unit cohesion, and morale. Years ago I stopped saying “I want to get out because I don’t want to be like that guy”… and started aiming to replace “that guy” and do better. I like to think I can avoid the many pitfalls I’ve witnessed. However, I haven’t seen as many good examples of things to replicate at the BN level. I plan to keep up and reinforce the standard things that have worked for me since I was an LT (listen to your NCOs, give leaders room to breathe, be humble, choose priorities and stick to them, don’t burn bridges, don’t make UCMJ/admin action personal, etc.)

What are POSITIVE things you have seen battalion commanders do, enact, and say that you think should be replicated? What were the things that made your best commander stand out to you as someone who cared, made a lasting positive impact on the unit, and balanced mission with morale and welfare? What behaviors/actions were inspirational?

Thanks!
