select all military/ranged/cavalry hotkeys

Hello to all and happy rest of the holidays!

I am fairly new to the game and currently battling in platinum league. I would like to learn the game "the right way" and dont pick up too many bad habits along the way.

I want to ask about the select all melee infantry/ranged infantry/cavalry hotkeys. Should I use them?

At the moment I use them but I also have the ability to overmap the hotkey so fir example if nothing is in control group 1 it will select all ranged infantry. Is that good practice?

I am also using select all army and select all idle army alot.
