Is it possible to make pure 2D animation using only cg animation?

I'm not an animator nor do I have any experience in the field but this is a question that has been bugging me for awhile. When I watch any cg show/movie despite each one using different styles they all have that same computer 3d look to them. Sure there are many films like spider-verse, TF one, puss in boots last wish, and blue-eyes samurai that have unique art-styles with the medium but they still look uniquely 3d compared to 2d animations today and of the past. I was thinking we always see and hear how cgi in live-action and animation is capable of making a-lot of amazing and striking imagery that just wouldn't have been possible in the past. That just got me thinking could it be theoretically be possible to make a traditional 2d movie/show using only cgi that doesnt have that unique 3d look I just talked about. Has anyone here actually tried doing something like this, how did it turn out?
