Eero PoE Without The Gateway?

Hey everybody,

Just became an Eero Pro and haven’t gotten around to messing with the PoE Gateway yet. I’m currently designing a job that needs 2 AP’s. I don’t want to rely on a Pro 6E in each spot because I don’t want to have to plug them in.

I am doing the prewire next week and was planning on putting the modem and a Pro 6E in a small closet in a good spot. I would also be putting the switch in that closet. There is a good spot on the ceiling for an AP. My question is: can a PoE Eero join the system by only being powered by PoE? So if I plug it into the PoE switch downstream of the gateway Pro 6E, will I be able to add it? Will it be meshed or will it utilize the data from the switch and not just the PoE? Pretty much what I’m asking is can you use Eero PoE devices without the Eero PoE gateway?
