When you miss out on a potential friendship
Looks like the ‘difficulty with friendships’ thing is too real… Recently I was ghosted by someone who I thought could be a potential friend, seemed so nice and I genuinely wanted to get to know them (I always get so excited when I meet someone I think is nice because its rare that I truly feel ‘safe’ to be myself in someone’s company). I only met them a couple of times but we seemed to click (at least I thought we did), and I just never heard back and have been patiently waiting ever since, thinking maybe they just forgot and haven’t got round to messaging yet, maybe they never saw my last message and didn’t realise I’d got in touch?
I’m starting to think that it was me, that I was too much, too weird, too forward too soon.
I’m actually so sad about it because I haven’t really been able to make any other close friends/other social groups outside of my friends I met during school, other than acquaintances and colleagues, and this is just confirming the whole ‘difficulty making friendships’ thing which I never wanted to be true for me. I’m already quite paranoid about how I act around people, trying my best to be ‘normal’ without being fake, it’s so hard!
Has anyone else experienced this?
