azriel hate
okay so i’ve seen a lot of people hate on azriel and rhys, but especially azriel, because of his role as a spymaster. can someone explain why it’s wrong that he tortures/kills? he can read minds but we aren’t given the full detail on whether that person has strong mental shields or the ability to block him out somehow? its not like he tortures innocent civilians or even normal fae. as far as i’ve seen/recall, its always been creatures like the attor?
also, its not like the night court has a justice system or police force to take care of interrogations ethically so unless sjm is interested in developing a criminal justice system then its up to azriel to handle the criminals — and when it’s one person being judge, jury and executioner, there’s bound to be blurred ethical lines. i just dont see why people bring it up in arguments against azriel as if he’s inherently evil. i would argue it’s more of a systemic issue than it is one person’s morality.
its like the trolley problem, you kill one to save a dozen others except with the added fact that the one is an evil creature inherently and the dozen are your loved ones and/or your city as a whole — is the answer not obvious? its not morally perfect but thats what makes them morally grey?
