Having trouble playing multiplayer

I load in just fine, but my friend doesn’t? It says they join the chat room but it doesn’t show her or anything in the game. We’ve tried for like four hours to get it to work, it also doesn’t work when she hosts because it always says disconnected or something along those lines.
