Winnipeg Socials … anyone do food other than Pizza Hotline any more ?

Serious question here. La Short wife, myself, and an angry ginger friend went to a social last night. It was decent, $3.30 beers for the $20 ticket package, decent prizes, decent dj, good turnout … with Pizza Hotline for food. Which brought us to the angry discussion that the last 3 socials we were at were all pizza hotline. What happened to cold cuts ? When the wife and I had our social we did cold cuts and perogies and meatballs … had people showing up telling us they came just for the food. Heck, I’ve gone to Asian socials just for the food. Don’t mean it to sound racist, but pre Covid last Asian social I went to it was a friend of a friend of a friend so far removed no one I knew had a direct link to the wedding party. But man we spent money there but we showed up cause of the FOOD. If anyone is throwing a social with food other than pizza hotline, where do I find a social like that? I’d go. My friends would go. Heck, we spend like money has no value cause the hangover post social is worth it.

Also, just because winnipegers love rants, imma hop on the vehicle band wagon: grrr drivers, grrr snow. Clean your windows. Merge. Don’t command start your car but also don’t drive with your windows fogged. Heck, everyone just stop driving. Phew, feels good to be one of the pack and complain about everyone else’s driving (also, I will admit I’m that idiot that doesn’t have my winter tires on yet. I’ve broken down in traffic before. I don’t touch my cell phone while driving, but occasionally I make a mistake when behind the wheel. I’m not perfect behind the wheel but I don’t think anyone is).
