Why do cafes put lettuce in sandwiches they intend on heating up? Surely I’m not the only one who dislikes slimy lettuce.
Ordered a sandwich (blt) from a cabinet in cafe and without realising (they hadn’t asked) they proceeded to microwave it then put it in a sandwich press. (I assumed a blt wouldn’t be heated).
Being slightly awkward and hating confrontation I took it and left. However the problem was the lettuce was a slimy, manky floppy mess far from the luscious crispy leaf it was 3 mins prior.
Then today at another place I saw lettuce in a panini, assuming paninis are heated the same thing would have happened.
What is with cafes putting lettuce in sandwiches they are planning on heating.
Lettuce surely belongs in a cold sandwich unless it is freshly made and some of the ingredients are heated.
Surely I’m not the only one who dislikes slimy lettuce.
