[William Wood - Fire Exit]

I came across this watch at last year’s British WatchMakers Day. There were so many fantastic British microbrands on display there, including better known names like Christopher Ward, but this is the one that I couldn’t leave without, despite making myself the same promise every watch enthusiast makes - “I’m not buying another watch”. I loved the brands story, the owners comes from a long line of firefighters, and that has informed all the design choices of his watches. This one is of coursed based on the iconic fire exit man, with each day of the week represented by a playful take on the usual running man. The strap is made from recycled fire hose. The brands emblem at 12 is made from old melted down firemans helmets and the case back displays a series of different fire exit figures. The whole thing runs on a Sellita SW-200 and after a years wear I’ve barely had to adjust it and not experienced any issues. Fantastic watch, great price point and great conversational piece too!
