If you're thinking of going with VM, read this!

Me and my partner recently moved into our new house, around August time. When picking an internet provider, we were left with little choice seeing as any non-fibre internet was too slow and expensive but there wasn't any fibre options. Except for Virgin Media!

That was when we got our first installation date. They cancelled. We got our second and third, now going into September. That's when I saw all the forum posts about the dates constantly being pushed back. There were still no other options for what we needed, so we just kind of held out hope that they'd end up coming through. Safe to say we called them during this time too, having to get new dates that way. Funnily enough, they changed the date for a fourth, fifth and sixth time. Now it was late October. They assured us countless times that the 'outside work' would be completed soon and that the contractors were already booked. The eighth change came through, but this time we got a knock at the door! A VM engineer, ready to install. He even joked about how he knew our house had been waiting ages for this installation. To not drag this out further, he found out quick that no contractors had been round to do the needed work outside and assured me that he would speak to his manager and get it all sorted out that day. Nothing was sorted out that day.

We got a call a few weeks later from VM claiming they had to cancel our account because of a fault on their system, but it was easy as cancelling it ourselves and just starting again. If we did that, we could have internet by tomorrow! But when we asked about prior dates being erased and how that would work with compensation, we got a very sketchy response along the lines of 'oh well we'll cross that bridge when we come to it'. We refused and said we would rather wait, seeing as they said they could sort it out another way but it would just take longer. Fast forward to today, our account has been cancelled and reinstated with all previous install dates erased. No compensation for us! They were due to come round today too, but surprise surprise, no show.

After TEN install date changes, we have nothing. Thankfully, youfibre has appeared in our area and we're swapping to them as of today. Going on 5 months no Internet and no compensation to show for it. Customer service was horrendous each and every time. Literally just go with anyone else. We would not have put up with it for so long if there had been another option at the time.

TLDR: VM changed installation date 10 different times over around 5 months. Customer service was no help at any point. VM erased prior dates they promised from our account to stop us from claiming any compensation. OBVIOUSLY DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING WITH THEM if only for your sanity :D
