Optometrist Upsells?

I just got back from an Optometrist appointment where the optometrist said I need to start taking "medical grade" omega 3s for the oil glands in my eyes, and added a $160 bottle of omega-3 supplements to my bill without even telling me the cost first. I told them I'd get them elsewhere, but this practice seems really...fishy. Like...scamming seniors kind of fishy.

This was on top of the high-pressure sales to buy their hyper-inflated lenses and frames, and over-booking appointments.

Anybody else noticing this at their optometrists?
