What's with all the damn scammers?

So I've been off upwork for a few years, have a decent profile with top rated plus and 100k+ earned on the platform. I've just come back to Upwork after a few years and bought a few hundred connects to start applying and wow, the amount of scammers is crazy. How do you all filter them out? Out of 10 people that have answered my proposal at least 4 of them are scams.
