Apple Product Delivered and Taken Back Hours Later

Hello, rarely have to deal with UPS but here it is, on a Friday during work:

Expecting a delivery, driver shows up in an Enterprise rental white van, though seems to be a UPS driver with the tracker device and everything, leaves the box at the door, no signature takes a picture and he is off.

So excited, I open the box and start doing the product unboxing, the drivers comes back 1 hour later and rings at the door “I need to take the box back” 🤔

He said he made a mistake, that the box should not had been delivered because his clerk from the UPS center messaged him to not delivered.

Nothing on my side seems to collaborate that, all statuses are: Delivered, Paid, Processed

They tell me the shipper has flagged that delivery for some reason, presumably Fraud?

Called the shipper (Apple), nothing flagged very helpful customer service , opened an investigation case.

Called to the UPS shipping center - I was not supposed to have the phone number that their driver gave me. Not much help the person put me on-hold then told me “I have no information, I am just a clerk and I have much work to do” redirected me to another phone number

Now… I will wait for Apple’s investigation resolution, just annoying to be loosing time dealing with this situation.

I was only respectfully trying understand why my package was taken back flagged by the shipper while the shipper himself denies that and opened an investigation case..? 🤨

Is this a common procedure of some sort? Where is the miscommunication here?
