Prep For Medical Emergencies
This week a report came out about an EMS crisis/shortage in our area.
People are waiting an hour for EMS to show up, and people are dying due to the delays.
We are in a rual area, with the closest rural hospital (thankfully trauma level 1) about 30 min away. I'm trying to decide what I need to do for potential medical emergencies for my husband and I, and also to help our neighbors if needed. My husband is also a maker and has had a few sketchy injuries in the past which we were thankfully 5 min away from emergent care to manage.
I'm trying to cover my bases here especially with ::waves hands around:: the upcoming situation.
My plans so far are:
- Take basic first aid/ CPR/ BLS
- Stop The Bleed Course- There's no in person skills ones remotely near here, with out an overnight trip involved, If you have taken this do you think the online portion olny was okay, or should I find a way to take the in person skills portion
- Assemble a robust first aid kit, bleed kit for home
- Assemble car/travel first aid kits
What else would you do to prep if this was your situation?
Also looking for first kit supply recommendations, because it's absolutely overwhelming out there!
