Is Metroid the only instance of playing as the strongest being in its universe?
Zelda? Link is weaker than the gods (and arguably some enemies).
Monster Hunter? Your hunter is just one of many strongest dudes.
Halo? …ok I actually don’t know anything about Halo.
I think the DooM reboot is the only other instance I can think of.
