How is Evolution compatible with the Bible (Genesis) ?

How does the theory of evolution especially macro evolution relate to the genesis creation story ?

I’ve seen many Christians on this sub saying that they accept both macro evolution and the genesis story but isn’t these 2 go against each other ?

How can you as a Christian defend or even accept such a theory when that same theory is the reason why so many people don’t accept the Bible or believe in Christ and his divinity and knowing full well that atheism is one of the reasons why many people gonna lose out salvation.
