Legalism is the Christian boogeyman.

It seems like whenever there's an issue with anything in a church, Christians jump to the conclusion and call it legalism. Even if the thing we shouldn't be doing is backed up by Scripture, it's legalism. But oh wait, no one ever says that about the Catholic or Orthodox churches, who are actual some of the most legalistic "churches" around today. Though that's not why I'm here. It just seems like legalism is the thing that gets the most blame around Christian circles these days. If you try to impose some standard, which even the Apostles including Paul did, you're a legalist and anything you say is instantly invalidated.
