Is it safe to take a two hour train journey (accompanied by husband), 2.5 weeks post hip replacement?
I am 60 years old and fell over, breaking my hip, while abroad on a weekend trip. It is a two hour train journey to go back to my home country (this is in Europe). If my husband travels with me, is it safe for me to do so? I will ask a doctor on Monday when I get my stitches removed, but keen to know if others have experienced this.
To note:
- I am two weeks post-op
- I am still using crutches but can walk for up to 20 mins before getting too tired or experiencing pain
- Husband will come with me and I’ll probably book special assistance with the rail company’s disability accessibility team, so I can be wheeled from platform to station exit
- My stitches will be taken out this Monday. I’d like to travel back home on Wednesday or Thursday.
