Milton freehold townhomes are an affordable freehold alternative
Not sure that many ppl have caught on to this yet, but unlike many other places in the GTA, Milton features many freehold townhomes that are essentially three storey townhouses in the 700s for 2 bedrooms and in the 800s for 3 bedrooms. Many of these have been built in the last 15 years or earlier so they’re newer and many have no maintenance fees at all (true freehold), while some have really minor POTL fees ($100/month). Milton is a 25-30 minute drive to Mississauga/Oakville/Burlington and a 40-50 min drive to Toronto, depending on traffic. It’s a more viable option for those looking for a freehold within the GTA at an affordable price point.
Milton is a smaller city with little to no night life, and it’s largely inhabited by families. If that’s your thing, you should consider looking into options there. This is obvious to most but you should also be aware that if you’re not paying several hundred in monthly maintenance fees (ie. you buy a freehold), your mortgage borrowing power increases by $100,000-$200,000
Just some food for thought.
