Was quoted $3,800 to replace 6 tiles. Am I getting hosed?

Recently bought a house and they had remodeled the main bathroom. They also had drilled holes for some grab bars. I had asked around and got several quotes from $300 to $3,800. I had a got a quote from a shower door glass installer and wanted to take care of this prior to that install and he said he talked to 5 contractors and they all turned it down. Said it was small and highly technical with the shelves being right there and they might even have to be taken out. Any ideas on what to do???
