Advice on cutting into existing subway tile

I'm wanting to cut in some receptacles above my kitchen counter top. All existing subway tile from counter top to cupboard.

I've seen some posts on here saying cutting these cleanly is as simple as blue tape, a wet sponge, and a diamond blade on a grinder.

Is it better to just cut along the grout lines, chisel, and patch afterward?
